Charges have been filed nearly two months after a crash that left a 66-year-old man dead in suburban Orland Park.

According to authorities, a suspect was arrested and charged with reckless homicide in the late June crash.

Police were called to the intersection of 149th Street and LaGrange Road just before 11 a.m. on June 29 for reports of a crash involving multiple vehicles.

During the course of their investigation, it was revealed a driver had been proceeding northbound on LaGrange Road at a high rate of speed, then crashed into three other vehicles.

Two of those vehicles spun off the roadway, and one struck a 66-year-old man, who was waiting for a bus on the southeast corner of the intersection.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

In all, seven people were transported to area hospitals for treatment, according to police.

The suspect in the case was arrested on Wednesday, and now faces charges of reckless homicide, aggravated reckless driving and reckless driving, along with multiple traffic citations.
