According to the Illinois Lottery, the woman purchased a $5 “In the Money” scratch-off ticket at California Enterprises in the Gage Park neighborhood earlier this month.
The mom quickly realized she had won big….but she could scarcely believe it.
“I thought I was losing my mind. I lost track of how many times I checked the results,” she said.
She scanned her ticket multiple times on a kiosk in the store, then scanned it again with her Illinois Lottery app. The result of all the scans was the same: she had won the top prize of $400,000 in the game.
After claiming her prize, the mother-of-three knows precisely what she’ll do with the money. She’s planning to invest in her children’s education, and she’s going to surprise them with a back-to-school shopping spree before they return to the classroom.
