Two people have died after a shooting in Chicago’s Garfield Park neighborhood, including a 64-year-old woman who was a block away when the gunfire rang out.
According to authorities, a 25-year-old man was standing outside in the 200 block of South Pulaski just before noon Wednesday when two men approached him.
At least one of those men then opened fire, striking the victim according to police.
He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
At the same time, a 64-year-old woman was in the 300 block of West Pulaski when she was struck in the chest by an errant gunshot, police said. She was also taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The suspects fled the scene in a black car, driving southbound on Pulaski according to police.
