Vehicle thefts fell across most San Diego neighborhoods in 2025, according to data obtained by Times of San Diego.San Diego recorded 3,390 motor vehicle thefts in 2025, down from 4,172 in 2024, a nearly 19% year-over-year drop. “When you get car thieves off the streets and hold them accountable, that can have an impact on other crimes that are committed in our communities,” she said. “Often the stolen vehicle is a means to help them commit other crimes without it being traced back to them.”
