A sweet spirited, kind hearted lady, Mrs. Helen Ramsey Blair departed the walks of this life at the age of 81 at 4:55 a.m. Friday morning August 14, 2026 to begin her heavenly journey with her Lord and Savior. With her daughter at her bedside, she quietly passed at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center where she was admitted August 4th suffering from complications of cancer.
Public graveside services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning August 18th at the Ridgewood Cemetery Burial will follow in section seven.
With the procession leaving Sanderson Funeral Home at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, the family will receive friends follow the graveside services.
She was one of two daughters and a son born to the late Harve Ramsey who died at the age of 70 on November 30, 1973 and Ima Mae Dunn Ramsey Thompson who died at the age of 84 on December 4 2007 and was born Helen Dean Ramsey in Baxter, TN on May 17, 1945.
Her son, Jeff Blair, died in a farming accident on March 8, 2000 at the age of 32 on the Blair Brothers Lane farm in the Watervale Community.
Her only sister, Linda Mae Ramsey Givens died June 17, 2021 at the age of 73 and her brother, David Olen Ramsey died January 19, 2000 at the age of 58.
On January 13, 1965 she was united in marriage to South Carthage native, Boss Charles Blair. He preceded her in death at the age of 80 on September28, 2002.
Mrs. Blair was an accomplished seamstress and was employed many years as a sewing machine operator at the former W. E. Stephens Manufacturing Company in Carthage.
Before her retirement and after the closing of the Stephens plant she was employed in housekeeping at the Smith County Health Care Center.
Mrs. Blair was a non-denominational Christian.
Surviving is her caring and loving daughter and son-in-law who had seen to her every need for the final two years of her life, Christy Blair Silcox and husband Jason of the Watervale Community; six grandchildren, Loren Gilmer and husband Wayne of the Riddleton Community, Courtney Blair Craighead and husband Jamin of the Horseshoe Bend Community, Lyndsey Mathis and husband Rick of Lebanon, Jordan and John Silcox of the Watervale Community, Jaynasyn Hadley of Murfreesboro; nine great-grandchildren.
