Chicago police are asking for the public’s help after a 45-year-old woman riding a bicycle along the lake front in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood was struck and seriously hurt by a masked man riding a dirt bike in a hit-and-run.
The incident occurred in broad daylight July 20, police said, on the Lakefront trail at 1400 N. Lake Shore Drive. About 3:47 p.m., police say the woman was riding on the path when she was struck by a man wearing a black ski mask who was recklessly driving a yellow-colored dirt bike.
According to police, the woman sustained “catastrophic” injuries.
Chicago police issued a community alert about the incident Sunday, with pictures of the suspect on the motorized bike. According to officials, he was last seen in the are of Milwaukee and Chicago Avenues.
Anyone with tips or camera video footage of the man riding the bike to provide them to the Major Accident Investigation Unit, at 312-745-4521.
