ROCHESTER, N.Y. — News10NBC’s Lynette Adams featured several Rochester success stories on Sunday’s Rochester In Focus, including a business competition, a local band’s big break, a newly created charter school, and a fashion camp for aspiring designers.
RIT’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship downtown is hosting Rock the Pitch, a competition that gives local business owners the chance to pitch their business for a shot at winning $20,000. Center director Ebony Miller joined Lynette to discuss the competition and other programs offered at the center.
The show also featured a one-on-one interview with Michael Avent, a founding member of Rochester Soul Jazz Funk Top 40s band Magnetic Flow. The group was invited to perform at the New York State Fair on the largest stage on Labor Day weekend. Avent shared what it’s like to prepare for a performance on the same stage where Kool and the Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire once performed.
Lynette also spoke with Yarritza Delgado, the founding principal of the new BRICK Rochester Charter Academy School, in a follow-up interview. News10NBC first introduced viewers to Delgado a few weeks ago. In the interview, she talks about her life purpose, including how she got to where she is now.
The show wrapped up with a second interview featuring Meg Mundy, founder of Meg Mundy Style and Rochester Fashion Week. Mundy recently launched a fashion camp to give future fashionistas a taste of the industry. Lynette spoke with a 15-year-old camper, Anna, about her experience, including what inspired her to join the camp.
