Speedo Sectionals finalist Ruby Teeters has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at New Mexico State University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am absolutely elated to announce my verbal commitment to New Mexico State University, where I will continue my academic and athletic career at the Division I level! First, I want to thank God for blessing me with the privileges, people, and abilities that have brought me to this point. The Lord has given me strength and unwavering faith through my journey with swimming, and I will forever be grateful for His guidance and the path He has placed before me. I would also like to thank all of my friends, family, and teammates who have showed me swimming is so much more than just a sport. I am incredibly grateful for all of my coaches who have poured into me over the years, especially my Dad and Coach Issac, who have molded me into a better person and a stronger athlete. Lastly, a huge thank you to Coach Rick, Coach Michael, and all of the girls at NMSU for being so incredibly supportive, welcoming, and kind throughout this process. I am so blessed for this opportunity and immensely excited to be an Aggie!!!

A rising senior at Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, Teeters has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Austin Swim Club, where she primarily specializes in backstroke and IM.
Over the course of the 2025-26 season, Teeters dropped nearly five seconds in the 200 IM, over a second and a half in the 100 back, and just over a second in the 200 back.
Teeters’ standout meet came at Speedo Sectionals – Austin in March, where she finished 21st in the 200 back (2:02.80) and 25th in the 100 back (56.43), setting her current lifetime bests in both events. A month earlier, in February, she set her PB of 2:10.19 in the 200 IM at the University Interscholastic League Region 7-6A Championship en route to seventh, and also touched ninth in the 100 back with a then-PB of 57.73, putting her on track to qualify for her first high school state meet next season.

100 Backstroke: 56.43 200 Backstroke: 2:02.80 200 IM: 2:10.19A Division I Mid-Major program, New Mexico State competes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, with the women’s team placing second out of 10 teams at this past season’s conference championships. Teeters’ current career bests would have qualified her for the “B” finals in both the 100 and 200 back, though she still has work to do in the 200 IM, where she remains several seconds off the 2:07.30 required for a second swim. With two full seasons of training to go before lining up at her first conference meet, she looks poised to be an immediate contributor for the Aggies.
Teeters joins Ellie Krauss and Allie Hrodey in committing to New Mexico State’s class of 2031 so far.
