IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — The Ukrainian Festival started on Thursday and will run through Sunday at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Ridge Road. On Saturday, we caught up with the festivities.
The festival features Ukrainian food like Varenyky, Holubtsi (Cabbage Rolls), Ukrainian sausage, and more. There are also a variety of vendors, violin acts, dancing, and entertainment. The festival serves as a fundraiser for the church.
The celebration runs from 1 p.m. to midnight on Saturday. It also opens at 1 p.m. on Sunday, but ends at 6 p.m.
“We’ve been going strong for 54 years now,” said Andrew Hanushevsky, festival chairman. He also said there are Ukrainian desserts and beer.
