YATES COUNTY, N.Y. — A man previously convicted on sex crimes has been convicted by a Yates County jury on new charges.
Following the end of a four-day trial, the jury convicted Ronald Chilson of predatory sexual assault against a child for committing a course of sexual conduct against a child less than 13 years old for a period of about 22 months.
This is Chilson’s second conviction in a year for a sex crime. According to the Yates County District Attorney’s Office, Chilson pleaded guilty last year to criminal sexual act for engaging in sexual conduct with a child while they were sleeping.
Both of his convictions are for crimes that he committed in the foster home he and his wife operated in Dundee, the DA’s Office says. The office also says the crimes were committed against foster or adoptive children.
Chilson’s sentencing is set for Oct. 17. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
