ROCHESTER, N.Y. — It’s looking to be a nice weekend in and around Rochester. If you’re looking for something to do, here’s what’s going on around town this weekend:
Community Health Fair
A free community health fair is set for Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club on Genesee Street.
The event will offer free health screenings, including blood pressure and vision checks. There will also be help with telehealth and online medical records, along with a mobile mammogram unit and a backpack giveaway.
The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hoochenanny Festival
The Hoochenanny Festival is back and will run from August 14-16 at Center Park West in Perinton.
General admission tickets are sold out for Friday. Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For more information and to get tickets, click here.
Happy Tails Free Adoption
This Saturday and Sunday, people can adopt all eligible animals for free at the shelter on County Road 48 in Canandaigua. The shelter is overcrowded, and hopes to find loving homes for every animal.
From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, there will also be a bounce house, free face-painting, craft vendors, hot dogs, and raffle baskets.

Ukrainian Festival
The Ukrainian Festival started on Thursday and will run through Sunday at St. Josapahts on Ridge Road.
Featuring Ukrainian food like Varenyky, a variety of vendors, and entertainment. The festival serves as a fundraiser for St, Josaphat’s Church.
On Friday, the festival runs from 6 p.m. to midnight. Saturday it runs from 1 p.m. to midnight. It also opens at 1 p.m. on Sunday, but ends at 6 p..m

Walk Against Domestic Violence
The 15th annual Walk Against Domestic Violence is this Saturday at the Maplewood Rose Garden starting at 10 a.m.
Registration opens at 9 a.m., and the walk is free. Domestic violence survivors along with friends and family will walk a one-mile loop to raise awareness of domestic violence.
Little Italy Festival
The Little Italy Festival is back at Ontario Beach Park on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The festival will showcase Italian culture with local food vendors and some of our areas’ most popular Italian restaurants.

Literacy Parade
A local group says its hosting Rochester’s first “Literacy Parade” for educators, families, students, and other organizations to celebrate the power of reading.
Starting at 11 a.m. at the Frederick Douglass Library on South Avenue, the parade will march through downtown with groups celebrating their favorite books through costumes, displays, and literacy-themed activities.
The parade is organized by SoulFoodBabies Literacy Movement, aiming to make reading exciting. The parade will walk toward Highland Park. Organizers encourage anyone to dress up as their favorite book character.
