ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills are looking into complaints about some of the seats at the new Highmark Stadium.
News10NBC Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean spoke with a season ticket holder in Henrietta who says he feels duped. Jared Carlson bought seats 1 through 4 in Row 1 in the upper deck, but it’s right behind a glass wall and railing that protects people walking up the stairs.
“The biggest thing is I think I was misled,” Carlson said.
When the Bills sold him the tickets, Carlson says there was nothing about obstructed view. Brean asked people to send photos from their seats from Saturday’s practice. Dozens of people posted on News10NBC’s Facebook page and loved the view, but then there are ones like Carlson’s.
Railing cuts through the field
Carlson showed video of his view. He was standing and it still shows the glass wall and railing cutting through the field. The view sitting down is worse.
“And then on top of the glass there’s a shiny silver trim that goes around the top that obstructs your view also,” Carlson said.
Brean asked Carlson to take him back to the moment when he walked into the stadium and saw what was in front of him.
“A few words that shouldn’t be aired on TV but I was not too happy especially after the amount of money we spent,” Carlson said.
He paid $6,000 for four seats in row one. The Bills told News10NBC’s affiliate in Buffalo it’s “addressing internal and external feedback” before the season opener.
A lot of fans liked their view. Jason Cooper shared the virtual image when he bought his tickets and the real view Saturday. They appear similar.
Section 417

The Bills told the AP the seats in last row won’t be sold for football. News10NBC was able to buy the first two seats in the second to last row for $250, and the view appears to be the same. News10NBC did not complete the purchase. The seats are still available as of the posting of this story.
“What does glass do when it freezes? You can’t see through it,” Carlson said referring to his seats in Section 444.
Brean asked Carlson if he thinks the Bills are going to make changes based on this kind of reaction.
“I just don’t know how, based on how it would work and safety factors how it could have it positioned any differently,” Carlson said.
Carlson puts tickets on secondary market
Carlson has those seats for sale for every game on Ticketmaster. He’s got two other sets of tickets near the field. That’s where he will sit.
News10NBC spoke with the Bills in the last hour. They’re looking into the seats News10NBC could buy. The glass and railing issue is exclusive to the first seats in the first rows of upper deck because of the way they designed the stairs.
The Bills have six weeks to figure these issues out. The home opener is Thursday, Sept. 17.
