Framework to Debut in Miami During Art Basel: ‘More Requests to Bring What We Do to Different Markets’ ...Middle East

News by : (billboard) -

Southern California-based independent dance event producer Framework is set to make its debut in Miami in December during Art Basel.

Partnering with the Miami-based independent promoter unKommon events, Framework will host a Dec. 4 show with Dutch electronic duo ANOTR during the city’s week or art, music and parties.

The Dec. 4 show will happen at a never-before-used venue at the city’s Watson Island Park, located on an island in Biscayne Bay between South Beach and downtown Miami. Tickets are available via Dice. Amsterdam-based duo ANOTR is on a continued hot streak, with its recent Ultra 54 collab “Talk to You” recently spending consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the WARM Global Dance Radio chart.

Art Basel is a uniquely busy week for electronic music in Miami, with DJs and party brands touching down to be part of the action. Framework founder Kobi Danan tells Billboard that the company will set itself apart as “Just like anywhere we go, we’re going to do things our own way. Framework has always been about creating a distinct experience around the music, the production and the people in the room. Miami also gives us the opportunity to introduce that experience in a relatively new venue, while being close to the heart of where so much of Art Week is happening.”

The Miami event follows the announcement of an upcoming Framework coproduced show near Phoenix on Oct. 30 that will be headlined by Chris Stussy. Coproduced with Arizona’s independent dance event promoter Relentless Beats, this event will mark Framework’s first event outside California, where the company is a leader in electronic music experiences in Los Angeles and the wider region.

Framework also has an ongoing relationship with The Concourse Project, in Austin, Texas, where the team supports booking and programming at the venue. Arizona and Miami will be more forward-facing Framework collaborations and represent a different approach, as the company expands its presence into new markets.

In Southern California, Framework produces shows in transformed spaces including the historic Sears Building in Downtown Los Angeles and various Hollywood Boulevard takeovers, along with the seasonal club Reframe and the longstanding nightclub Sound. The company also produces the annual Coachella-adjacent party Framework In the Desert.

“As the Framework brand continues to grow, we’ve been receiving more and more requests to bring what we do to different markets,” Framework founder Kobi Danan says of the expansion. “I wouldn’t necessarily define it as a traditional expansion — we’re partnering with dear friends and incredible brands to bring our style of production and sound to different markets around major cultural moments … We’re fortunate to partner with people who have been doing incredible work in their markets for years, and it’s an honor to be invited to grow alongside them.”

In Los Angeles, Framework’s upcoming calendar includes shows with Rossi. at Expo Lawn, Planet X at California Plaza, Francis Mercier at Reframe Studios Outdoors, Jimi Jules at Gin Ling Way and shows with Kettama, Max Styler and Prospa at Shrine Expo Hall that are being copresented by Goldenvoice.

With such a busy calendar, Danan says additional events outside of California will be done “when the community welcomes us and the right combination of artist, venue and opportunity comes together. We’re not looking to expand just for the sake of expanding. It has to feel right for Framework and, most importantly, for the community we’re entering.”
