Media executive Andy Lack and award-winning journalist Kara Swisher will headline a conversation titled “AI and the Search for Truth” during Mississippi Today’s second annual “All In on Mississippi Summit” on Oct. 8, the nonprofit newsroom announced Tuesday.

The discussion will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping journalism, media, business and public trust as technology is rapidly transforming how people consume and evaluate information.

The session is part of Mississippi Today’s 10th anniversary celebration and will bring together leaders from business, government, philanthropy, education and journalism for conversations about the state’s future.

“Artificial intelligence is changing nearly every aspect of life, including how news is produced and distributed and whether people can trust what they read, hear and see,” said Emily Wagster Pettus, editor-in-chief of Mississippi Today. “Andy Lack and Kara Swisher are experts on media innovation and accountability. Their conversation will illuminate one of the most important issues facing journalism and democracy today.”

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in everyday life, questions surrounding misinformation, trust, ethics and the future of independent journalism are urgent.

During “AI and the Search for Truth,” Lack and Swisher will examine how AI is transforming the information ecosystem, the opportunities and risks the technology presents, and what journalists, civic leaders and the public must do to preserve trustworthy information.

The conversation will also explore how news organizations are adapting to rapidly evolving technology while remaining committed to accuracy, transparency and public service.
