ELIZABETHTOWN, N.Y. — A father has been found guilty in connection to the death of his 9-year-old daughter in Essex County.
News10NBC’s affiliate in Albany reports that Luciano Frattolin was found guilty of murder in the second degree and concealment of a corpse Monday.
Prosecutors say Frattolin falsely reported in July 2025 that his daughter Melina was abducted from a rest area in Lake George. Investigators found her dead the next day near Ticonderoga.
Troopers say the girl and her father, from Montreal, were vacationing in the Adirondacks. They arrived on July 11, 2025, and were expected to return on July 20, 2025. The day before their return, the girl’s father had reported his daughter missing, saying she may have been abducted in the Town of Lake George.
According to our affiliate, prosecutors in the case argued Luciano’s account of kidnappers taking his daughter didn’t make sense, and his story had many inconsistencies.
Frattolin’s trial lasted three weeks, our affiliate says. Testimony started on July 23. He faces 26 and a third years to life in prison.
