IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Irondequoit Police say officers cuffed a 16-year-old from Rochester who they say “pressures people to pay him for his candy.”
Officers say the interaction happened at Irondequoit Plaza.
Before this, IPD says the teen has been arrested and banned from Culver Ridge Plaza. They say the teen has been in physical fights with patrons. Officers say they addressed the teen four times on August 7.
News10NBC asked officers about the interaction after videos of it circled social media, with mixed opinions of the offers’ response. The video shows a struggle between the officers and the teen, and officers say the teen resisted arrest.
Police say the owner of Irondequoit Plaza wanted the teen banned from the property, and that Wegmans wanted him arrested for trespassing. Officers tell us the teen was given a written deposition, trespass warnings, was processes as a juvenile delinquent, and brought to his family.
