ROCHESTER, N.Y. — News10NBC’s Lynette Adams starts the show by talking with the chairperson of this year’s Clarissa Street Reunion and the R&B headliner for the event. Then, Lynette visits David Haygood Jr.’s Gallery One Fine Arts venue. After that, it’s an archive interview with Andria Langston, an actress. The last interview is with Grammy-nominated Jimmie Highsmith Jr.
The 28th annual Clarissa Street Reunion is happening this weekend, and this year’s event promises to bring together music, art and community celebration.
Patricia Mason-Williams, this year’s chairperson, and Cinnamon Jones, the headliner for the R&B stage, sat down with Lynette to discuss what attendees can expect. They also shared the story of how the event came about and explained why this isn’t just another summer festival.
The show also features a visit to David Haygood Jr.’s Gallery One Fine Arts venue in Henrietta. Haygood is a photographer and a musician. His provocative and compelling work showcases what drives him to create. Haygood is a part of the Black Heritage Committee. He also mentions his achievements, including making a portrait for Bill Johnson, who was a former Rochester mayor.
News10NBC also went back to the archives for an interview with actress Andria Langston. The talented actress sat down after the release of her psychological thriller, Peripheral, which dropped on BET+. In a second interview, she offered encouragement for young people who want to break into acting.
Grammy-nominated musician Jimmie Highsmith Jr. stopped by a few weeks ago to talk about a Rochester program he created: Play It Forward. The program is designed to entice and encourage more young people to take up a musical instrument, and he’s offering to bring the instructions directly to the students.
