More than 10,000 Verizon users reported problems with their wireless service on Saturday in Chicago and across the U.S.
Reports of issues with the wireless provider began around 2:30 p.m., according to outage tracking website Downdetector. The reports peaked around 3:30 p.m., with more than 13,300 people complaining of issues — the primary being the inability to make or receive phone calls.
A map of reports shows Verizon customers in Chicago, Los Angeles, DC, Boston and several other cities across the country were experiencing problems.
In a statement sent to NBC Chicago, a spokesperson for Verizon said the company is “aware of an issue impacting voice services for wireless customers in some parts of the U.S. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and resolve the issue. Please visit our Check Network Status page for updates on service in your area. We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your patience.”
