Brayden Hale from Wallingford, Connecticut has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at West Virginia beginning in fall 2027.
“I’m extremely excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at West Virginia University! First, I would like to thank God for his guidance, along with my family, friends, and teammates for their constant support throughout this journey. I also want to thank Coach Rob and Coach Sean for helping shape me into the person I am today. Lastly, I would like to give a huge thank you to Coach Brent, Coach Michael, Coach Sydney, Coach James, and the rest of the WVU coaching staff for this incredible opportunity! LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS!!”
Hale swims for Cheshire YMCA Sea Dog Swim Club and most recently swam at YMCA Summer Nationals. There he went five for five in lifetime bests. He was 3rd in the 200 IM (2:08.08) and 200 breast (2:21.12), 4th in the 200 fly (2:06.22) and 400 IM (4:35.44), and 11th in the 100 breast (1:05.43).
He had a strong short course season in the winter and concluded his season at YMCA Spring Nationals where he was highlighted by a 6th place finish in the 400 IM with a lifetime best 3:57.54. He also was 4th in the 200 IM with a 1:51.22.
Hale’s Best SCY Times Are:
400 IM: 3:57.54 200 IM: 1:50.80 200 fly: 1:51.14 200 breast: 2:02.65The West Virginia men finished 7th out of seven teams at the 2026 Big 12 Championships. Joseph Stebbins led the swimmers with 36 individual points including a 1oth place finish in the 400 IM (3:50.39).
Based on his best times, Hale is not far off what it took to make it back at the 2026 Big 12 Championships. It took a 3:56.74 400 IM, 1:48.96 200 IM, 1:49.39 200 fly, and a 1:59.02 200 breast to earn a second swim. He has another year before he arrives on campus.
Hale will arrive in fall 2027 as a member of the class of 2031 along with Michael Metz, Drew Sito, and Kyle Wilburn.
