ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The A.P. Property Services Rochester International Airshow returned on Saturday, bringing all kinds of planes to the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport for performances.
“It was a great day at the airshow; we’re on airshow number seven,” said Stephanie Bartello, with her son Lucas.
“First time at the Rochester Airshow. The last one we went to was in Dayton, Ohio. So we, we drive around for airshows,” Bartello added.
A man told us that it was his first time seeing the airshow in Rochester. “This is the first time up here. I’ve seen the Blue Angels before in Erie, P.A., but this is the first time up here in Rochester, New York. So, we’re affiliated with Kwik Fill, the gas station, so we got a tent down there. So, we all got tickets, we’re all, got like 38 people today coming up to see it,” said Dan Mechling.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headlined the show with formation flying and solo routines. There were also performances from the U.S. Army Golden Knights, a Jump Jet, and more.
The gates to the airshow opened at 9:30 a.m. and are set to close at 6 p.m. The flying began at around 10:30 a.m., and the Thunderbirds are the day’s final performance.
Tickets
The show continues on Sunday. You can get tickets and see the full schedule here. General admission is $45 for adults, and kids under 13 are free.
Parking
To get to the airshow, people can park at the RIT campus and take a shuttle to the airport. Parking passes cost $25, and you can buy them in advance here. There’s also VIP and reserved parking at 1303 Scottsville Rd. Organizers are reminding people not to park at the airport terminal.
