US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday that its forces redirected 51 commercial vessels as part of operations to support the US blockade of Iranian ports.
In a statement, CENTCOM said that US forces disabled two vessels and boarded two others to ensure their compliance with blockade procedures.
In a separate development, the US State Department, through its Office of Foreign Assets Control, announced measures against digital asset trading platforms and networks of companies it says are linked to money laundering operations on behalf of the Iranian regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
This move comes as part of Washington’s campaign to cut off funding sources used by Tehran to circumvent sanctions.
The US Treasury Department said that the measures target two major digital asset platforms used by Iranian entities, along with the head of a network of front companies operating across several countries.
Washington accused these entities of facilitating cryptocurrency-related activities and sanctions evasion.
