A Massachusetts Wendy's employee who once worked behind the counter to help support himself is now headed to Yale University after two of his managers made an extraordinary promise that changed the course of his life.

"I said, 'You need to work hard, but if you stay with us at Wendy's, we will make sure you'll be able to go to college,'" El-Sehrawey recalled on GMA. For every hour De Souza worked, the managers quietly set aside money to help pay for his education.

"I just couldn't control the emotions," he said. "Every single night that I slept at 3 in the morning to do homework, it was worth every second."
