Olympic gold medalist Allison Schmitt and her husband, Gavin Walker, announced that they are expecting their first child together. The couple shared the news on social media last week alongside a photo of Schmitt’s baby bump.

Having been together since 2022, Schmitt and Walker got engaged in December 2024 before tying the knot in Arizona one year later.
A four-time Olympian and ten-time Olympic medalist, Schmitt made her Olympic debut at the Beijing Games in 2008 when she was just 18 years old. Over the course of her Olympic career, Schmitt earned four gold medals, three silver and three bronze.
Three of those golds were picked up at the London Olympics in 2012, where she won the individual 200 freestyle in addition to the 4×100 medley relay and 4×200 freestyle relay.
Schmitt competed for the University of Georgia Bulldogs starting in the fall of 2008, becoming a six-time NCAA individual champion over the course of her collegiate career. She claimed the NCAA title in the 500-meter free in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and in the 200-meter free in 2010, 2011 and 2013.
Walker is an associate strength and conditioning coach at Vanderbilt University, where he primarily works with the men’s tennis and volleyball programs. Prior to arriving at Vanderbilt, he served as an assistant sports performance coach at Arizona State University, where he worked with the men’s and women’s swimming programs as well as the beach volleyball and indoor volleyball teams.
Schmitt graduated with a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University in 2023. She retired from competitive swimming in 2024 after the Paris Games and began working with BSN Sports, where she currently serves as the honorary chief empowerment officer for SURGE, an initiative aimed at inspiring female participation in sports.
