This post is dedicated to those swims that either went under reported or flew completely under the radar in our live recap.
Let’s start with the 1st event of the night, the girls 100 free. In the ‘B’ final of the 100 free, University of Denver Hilltoppers’ Sydney Wasylenky, codenamed “Anonymous Anonymous” on MeetMobile and Club Wolverine’s Adrienne Schadler went 55.84 and 55.88 respectively. Both performances marked career bests and each swimmer’s 1st time under 56 seconds in the event. Additionally, Wasylenky and Schadler would have been 2nd and 3rd respectively in the ‘A’ final.
Tide Swimming 16-year-old Coyle Moore had a massive swim in prelims of the boys 100 free. Moore popped a 50.95, taking nearly a second off his previous best of 51.75 and qualifying for the ‘B’ final by finishing 14th. In finals, Moore went 51.41 and slipped to 15th place, but he was still under his pre-meet best.
Fishers Area Swimming Tigers 13-year-old Grace Gannon continues to have a phenomenal meet. After finishing 11th in the 200 fly on day 1, Gannon went on to win the ‘C’ final of the girls 400 IM last night. Gannon put up a 4:51.97, taking more than 2 seconds off her previous best of 4:54.13. She was particularly strong on the fly and free legs last night, splitting 1:05.31 and 1:06.04 respectively.
SwimMAC Carolina’s Fedor Igoshin, 15, was excellent in the boys 400 IM prelims yesterday. Igoshin entered the meet with a career best of 4:31.29, then posted a 4:27.84 in prelims, which was good for 15th. In finals, Igoshin clocked a 4:31.23, finishing 16th, however, he was the only 15&U to finish in the top 16.
Though Nitro’s boys 800 free relay came in 5th, they had 2 of the fastest splits in the field on their relay. Noah Bose clocked a 1:51.83 on the 3rd leg, then was followed by Brady Bennett with a 1:51.98 on the anchor. Bose and Bennett were the 5th and 6th fastest splits in the field respectively. Moreover, Nitro was the only team with multiple sub-1:52 splits last night.
