The network announced Tuesday (Aug. 4) that production has officially begun on The Voice: Celebrity, a new edition of the long-running singing competition that trades aspiring artists for an all-star cast of famous faces. The special season is set to premiere in 2027, with Keke Palmer stepping in as the host and Joe Jonas making his debut as a coach, alongside returning coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green.
Unlike the flagship series, which spotlights undiscovered vocal talent, The Voice: Celebrity will feature contestants already known to audiences from across entertainment and sports. Actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians and reality TV stars will all compete for the title of the franchise’s first celebrity champion. The full cast of competitors will be announced at a later time.
With Palmer joining as host, it will be the first time someone other than Carson Daly has led a season of The Voice. Daly, who will continue to host the show’s milestone 30th season this fall, remains involved behind the scenes as a producer on the celebrity edition. Palmer is no stranger to NBC, becoming a familiar face through her hosting duties on Password. The Emmy winner (who also hosted Billboard Women in Music 2026) earned acclaim for recent film projects One of Them Days and Good Fortune. Her latest album, Just Keke, dropped in 2025.
Jonas will participate in the coaching panel for the first time. While the red swivel chair may be new territory for Jonas, he comes with plenty of chart credentials. As one-third of the Jonas Brothers, he’s earned multiple Billboard Hot 100 hits, including the group’s No. 1 smash “Sucker,” while his band DNCE reached No. 9 on the chart with their pop breakout song “Cake by the Ocean.” He’ll be joined by Queen Latifah and Riley Green, who are both coaching together on the upcoming 30th season of The Voice.
The celebrity version will introduce new elements designed to give viewers a behind-the-curtain look at the competition. A new Voice Boot Camp segment will follow contestants as they prepare for the Blind Auditions, while a VIP Room will capture celebrities reacting to each other’s performances in real time. Later in the season, a Workroom space will offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse at rehearsals and strategies leading into the Battle rounds.
