Prosecutors revealed new details on the allegations against an Illinois State Police trooper who was charged with sexual assault in a south Chicago suburb.
Douglass Lee, 54, was charged with criminal sexual assault with the victim unable to give knowing consent in connection with an incident that occurred early Aug. 2, 2025, in Tinley Park, according to village officials.
Authorities said detectives with the Tinley Park Police Department conducted an investigation and presented evidence to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office’s Felony Review Unit, which approved the charge.
According to court documents, the night began at Durbin’s bar, where Lee had been known to frequent. The bartender ended her shift and joined some regulars for shots.
Soon after, she decided to go to another bar with about four or five other women. Lee requested to join and the group walked to Hollstein’s, the docs alleged.
The woman said Lee bought her a seltzer and a shot before she went to the dance floor with someone in the group. After that, she blacked out, court docs stated.
The woman then woke up the next morning in her vehicle in a parking lot at Durbin’s, with her leggings inside out and her top clothing removed, court documents stated.
The woman told authorities she went into Durbin’s to use the bathroom and noticed something unusual. One woman who was with her the night before recalled seeing her dancing with Lee, according to the documents.
When she called Lee to ask what happened, she said he told her the night was “consensual” and that he took her to a hotel but left her in her car because she was not able to drive, court documents showed.
The woman went to the hospital and testing found she had barbiturates and cocaine in her system, documents stated.
Surveillance cameras also showed her with Lee before the pair got into his vehicle and evidence obtained from the hotel room showed a DNA match for the woman’s test.
Lee was scheduled to appear for a hearing on Tuesday at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
Illinois State Police said Lee has been employed since January 2004 and is currently on administrative leave without pay while ISP conducts an internal investigation.
