PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) – NFL teams certainly can’t ever have too much leadership and the Bills are definitely getting a lot in defensive end Bradley Chubb.
The ninth year player was once a Pro Bowl talent, finishing with 12 sacks as a rookie in Denver and 11 with Miami in 2023. However, he suffered a torn ACL at the end of the regular season and missed all of 2024. Chubb bounced back with 8.5 sacks in 2025, so the Bills are hoping he still has enough left in the tank. But Chubb’s value is more than however many times he can get to the opposing quarterback this season.
“Excited for the on-the-field leadership he can provide,” said defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard. “Number one, just be you. Be a player. Be a great football player for us.”
But Leonhard isn’t holding Chubb just to that standard, because he knows how crucial he can be in getting the most out of his teammates.
“From day one, it’s natural. He doesn’t have to try. It’s who he is. He’s a natural leader. Guys want to follow him,” said Leonhard.
Chubb doesn’t wait for guys to approach him, either. Before training camp even started, he made sure to do some offseason workouts with rookie TJ Parker.
“He takes TJ Parker down to Florida with him this summer,” said General Manager Brandon Beane. “He’s impressed with TJ’s commitment. For a young guy it feels like the light’s on.”
As we sit here on July 31, Chubb could be the glue that puts together a strong unit featuring himself, Parker, and Greg Rousseau, as Buffalo looks to improve drastically when it comes to getting to the quarterback.
