Authorities have arrested an 81-year-old man on charges he allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife in suburban Oak Lawn earlier this year.
According to authorities, police were called to a home in the 9400 block of 53rd Court on April 5 for a well-being check after a caretaker found 76-year-old Maryanne Buss-Kincaid unresponsive inside her residence.
Police said Buss-Kincaid had been shot, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the course of their investigation, detectives identified 81-year-old Charles Buss, Buss-Kincaid’s ex-husband, as a person of interest in her death.
That investigation allegedly revealed Buss had been at Oak Lawn at the time of her death, and had since returned to Missouri, where he is a resident.
On June 16, an arrest warrant was issued on a first-degree murder charge in the case, and one month later on July 16, U.S. Marshals took Buss into custody in Stone County, Missouri, according to police.
After being extradited to Illinois, Buss was formally charged this week with one count of first-degree murder, and he will appear in court for a pretrial detention hearing on Friday, according to officials.
