LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says it will comply with a new state law requiring an end to its agreement with federal immigration authorities.
The state Attorney General’s Office says Niagara County is one of 12 agencies that haven’t ended agreements allowing ICE to house federal immigration detainees in local facilities. Under the new state law, those agreements must end by Aug. 25.
Agencies could face legal action for non-compliance.
