Combined Group Contracting (CGC) has announced it has emerged as the lowest bidder for a major water treatment project being developed at a total investment of US $516mn in southern Kuwait.
The project is being implemented by Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works as part of its efforts to boost Kuwait’s water infrastructure and support the country’s broader food security objectives by providing reliable treated water resources for strategic agricultural and related applications.
CGC handles major water infrastructure and surplus water injection networks in Kuwait for clients like the Kuwait Oil Company in addition to infrastructure projects in neighbouring Qatar and UAE.
The company has also executed similar projects in Iraq, Oman, Sudan, Lebanon, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, said CGC in a statement.
The scope of work for the winning bidder includes development, construction, operation and maintenance of the treated water system. Even though the Kuwaiti group has emerged as the lowest bidder, it has not yet received any official award letters.
According to CGC, the key water treatment facility will help support the provision of treated water infrastructure required for agricultural and food security-related activities in the country’s southern region.
The entire project will be completed within a 5-year period, it added.
