It's no secret that Sweeney is leaving the soap soon, meaning that her character's exit is imminent. ITV confirmed earlier this year that the actress would be leaving the cobbles for good after nearly three years.
A Coronation Street spokesperson told Radio Times: "We wish Claire every success playing Miss Hannigan and congratulate her on being offered a role she has long wanted to play.
"Cassie will be on the cobbles until the summer during which time she will continue to make her presence felt in Weatherfield leading up to a great exit storyline."
She began knocking back the vodka when a man (Ian Burfield) approached the bar, and she invited him to join her.
She was disheartened, but upon checking the bill, noticed a name she recognised – Ross Wilkes.
Just days later he showed up in Weatherfield and revealed himself to be Tyrone Dobbs's (Alan Halsall) father. Cassie made it clear that she wanted him to play no part in their son's life, and on countless occasions, has warned that he isn't to be trusted.

She tearfully admitted that Ross had paid to have sex with her – when she was just 15 years old.
Meanwhile, Ross's new flame Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) was utterly sickened to learn that she'd been sleeping with a paedophile. She said that absolutely nothing could justify what he did, though Ross was insistent that he had no idea that Cassie was a minor.
Returning to No. 9, Ross made out that he was ashamed of himself and that he was willing to leave forever if Cassie didn't want him there. She begrudging accepted his apology for Tyrone's sake, but matters were about to turn a lot more sinister.
Is this how Cassie will leave?
