Sadie Sips Nutrition, a new loaded tea shop based in downtown Tuscaloosa, will have a soft opening from July 29 to Aug. 16. The shop has no official date for their grand opening but plans to open gradually after their soft launch.
Anna Wink Lewis, an Alabama native and University of Mississippi graduate, began planning to open Sadie Sips Nutrition at the beginning of this year from her passion for loaded teas.
“My sister attends the University of Alabama, and every time I visited, I found myself craving a loaded tea,” Lewis said. “We realized Tuscaloosa was the perfect place to bring that experience closer to my Alabama roots.”
The shop is named after Lewis’ dog, Sadie Mae, and features her on their official logo and social media. Lewis said that the shop was not originally meant to be named after Sadie Mae, but they were quickly inspired.
“We were originally planning to name the shop Tuscaloosa Teas, but one day while Sadie was at training, she started licking the side of one of our tea cups,” Lewis said. “At that moment, we knew the shop had to be named after her — and that’s how Sadie Sips was born.”
Sadie Sips Nutrition will offer a variety of menu items such as traditional loaded tea flavors, speciality tea and a seasonal menu. The shop has a special “Sadie’s Signature” menu that includes personal favorites from the shop’s team.
“We have a true passion for creating community, and we hope Sadie Sips becomes more than just a place to grab a drink,” Lewis said. “Our goal is to create a welcoming space where people can connect while continuing the sense of community we’ve built through all of our businesses.”
