With tearful eyes and sad hearts, the family at Mrs. Mary Ann Boston Maynard was at her bedside when she left her earthly journey to receive her heavenly reward three days before her 82nd birthday. She was pronounced deceased at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning July 27th at the family’s Hogans Creek Road home by Sheri Kinney with Gentiva Hospice of Livingston
Her pastor, Bro. Shane Smith, will officiate at the 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon July 29th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Sumner Memorial Gardens in Gallatin with Ray Young officiating.
Visitation with the family will be at Sanderson in Carthage only on Wednesday July 9th from 9 a.m. until the 1 p.m. services.
One of four daughters and a son, she was born Mary Ann Boston in Carthage on July 30, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Peter Irvin Boston who died April 14, 1969 at the age of 67 and Celestia Hazel Pettross Boston who died August 1, 1974 also at the age of 67.
She attended Smith County High School where she received her General Education Degree.
Mrs. Maynard was saddened by the death of two of her children, Joshua Scott Glover who died at the age of 38 on September 17, 2020 and an infant daughter, Deborah Leigh McClanahan who died at 1 day of age on April 29, 1961.
All four of her siblings preceded her in death, Mildred Gustine Boston Thackxton who died at the age of 65 on August 21, 1991, Charles Henry Boston who died at the age of 72 on October 29, 2001, Brenda Joyce Boston Maynard who died at the age of 61 on February 7, 2002 and Virginia Gail Boston Kennedy who died at the age of 78 on January 3, 2016.
Mrs. Maynard was the wife of Hoyte Guy Maynard of the Hogans Creek Community.
Mrs. Maynard was a member of the Gordonsville Church of the Nazarene.
She retired in 2010 at the age of 65 as a Nurse Tech at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.
Surviving in addition to her husband Hoyte are her two children, Holly Spillman and husband Mike of Castalian Springs, Scotty McClanahan and wife Kari Auclair of Hamilton, Montana; step-son, Jason Maynard of the Horseshoe Bend Community; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
