FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Lollypop Farm says it’s running out of space for new dogs, forcing the shelter to delay non-emergency dog intakes until November.
The shelter says the community’s need for dog intakes continues to outpace its available space. Lollypop Farm is encouraging more people to consider adopting or fostering pets. Currently, Lollypop Farm is caring for nearly 100 dogs, including dozens that are adoption-ready.
In a statement, Lollypop Farm said other shelters, rescue partners, and animal welfare organizations across the community are also seeing a high demand that’s straining their capacity. Last month, Lollypop Farm announced that it was temporarily pausing veterinary services for rescue partners, including spay and neutering, due to a shortage of veterinarians.
What to know about adopting or fostering a dog
If you’re unable to commit to adopting a dog, Lollypop Farm has a foster program to temporarily give dogs a home and create more space at the shelter. If you’re interested, you can learn more and complete a registration form here. Lollypop Farm will provide supplies and veterinary care.
If you’re looking to adopt, you can schedule an appointment on Lollypop Farm’s website. All dogs available for adoption are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped, and evaluated by a veterinary clinic.
