CARLTON, N.Y. — A woman faces multiple charges after Orleans County sheriff’s deputies say she was responsible for an assault that left the victim with “life-threatening blood loss.”

Deputies say they were called to a domestic scene at a home in Carlton on Saturday just after 11:40 p.m. and found the victim with severe cuts. Deputies applied tourniquets to the victim and performed first aid until medical services arrived and rushed the victim to Strong Memorial Hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation pointed them to Alyssa Canne, 34, of Lyndonville. She was charged with first-degree assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Canne was arrested after witness interviews, evidence collection, and a search warrant. She was taken to the Orleans County Jail for arraignment.

In a statement, the Orleans County sheriff said the deputies’ “prompt response and immediate medical intervention” helped to save the victim’s life.
