That’s already double what the next-closest England has amassed, although the nation did rocket up the rankings from 4th after day one to now sit 2nd among the medals.
Scotland is holding steady with 4 medals, while South Africa dropped one slot to rank 4th at the moment.
Notable is the fact that the small island of Jersey got on the board, courtesy of Filip Nowacki‘s silver medal in the men’s 100m breaststroke. That represented Jersey’s first swimming medal in over 30 years.
Northern Ireland also made its presence known as a result of Bethany Firth‘s bronze in the women’s S14 200m freestyle.
Going back to England, one of the prizes belonged to Adam Ramsay-Peaty after the Olympic champion and World Record holder earned bronze in the 100m breast.
However, the 31-year-old was anything but pleased with his result, giving an emotional interview after the race.
“It’s still very raw. I honestly feel like I deserve more,” he said to TNT.
“There’s a lot of thinking to do, but it’s too early to draw any conclusions.
“Maybe it was just an off swim. Maybe it’s because I’ve been away from championship racing for two years. I honestly don’t know.”
Peaty took time off of racing at championships to tend to his physical and mental wellbeing.
“What’s the point of all the 5.30am starts? What’s the point of all the metres every single day? What’s the point of being exhausted all the time, or missing family events because you have to train?
“It has to mean something. For me, that means striving for excellence, and today wasn’t excellence. That’s where the emotion comes from.”
He continued: “As you can tell, the emotion is always something that I’m going to carry.
“I’m never going to be afraid to show weakness because it’s so important for making stronger people, making stronger men, stronger fathers, stronger husbands.
“I think ‘S**t, how have I worked so hard at this age?’ – then you get a result like that. I’m better than that. Maybe it’s because I’ve had two years out, but it does hurt. There’s a lot going on in my head right now.
“The choices I’ve made over the last few months have been difficult. At the same time, I’m proud that I got here and that I didn’t quit after Paris [Olympics],” he said.
“I know I deserve more, and I know I can work for it.
“It’s been two years since I’ve raced heats, semis and finals, so maybe it’s just an adjustment. It’s too early to know what I’m capable of at this stage, but I’m a fighter.
“We’ve got another opportunity at the Europeans in two weeks, and I do enjoy a scrap. I lost that scrap today, but that’s sport. Most of the time I’ve won those battles – this time I didn’t.”
Peaty still has a chance for individual gold, making it into the semi-finals of the men’s 50m breaststroke which unfold this evening.
