Dry your hair with the right towel. "Using a microfiber towel instead of a regular towel reduces friction that causes frizz," she says. A standard terry cloth towel roughs up the cuticle as it absorbs water; a microfiber towel or even an old cotton t-shirt does the same job with far less disruption to the hair shaft.Switch to a satin or silk pillowcase. "Sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase helps minimize overnight frizz and breakage," Hong says. Cotton pillowcases create friction as you move during sleep—silk and satin allow hair to glide rather than snag.Brush hair gently. "Focus on reducing dryness and friction," she suggests.Don't over-wash. Don't wash the hair too often if your scalp doesn't require it, Hong says, explaining, "Gray hair naturally produces less oil, so preserving moisture is important."

How to blow-dry to prevent frizz
"Even a few minutes of heat styling with the proper technique can create a smoother, longer-lasting finish."
When frizz shows up mid-day, "the biggest mistake is adding more hairspray," Hong says. "Instead, apply a pea-sized amount of lightweight hair oil or smoothing serum to your palms, rub your hands together, and gently smooth the surface of the hair without overloading it."

What Ingredients Actually Help Frizzy Gray Hair?
"A nourishing hair oil, leave-in conditioner, smoothing cream, or anti-frizz serum can help soften coarse gray hairs, reduce flyaways and protect against humidity," she says.
"I also recommend using a deep-conditioning mask once a week to keep gray hair hydrated and manageable." Look for masks with ingredients like keratin, argan oil, shea butter or hyaluronic acid—all of which help restore the moisture gray hair is constantly losing.
