According to the Illinois Department of Revenue, the sales tax holiday will begin on Friday, August 7 and will run through Sunday, August 16.

How does the program work?
During the 10-day tax holiday, consumers can purchase clothing and school-related items, and will be permitted to pay sales taxes at a reduced rate.
According to the Illinois Department of Revenue, only specific clothing and footwear retailing for less than $125 per item is eligible. Further, school supplies like notebooks, pencils and other items will also qualify, and the state makes note that the $125 threshold does not apply on those items.
