ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Eligible Amazon Prime customers have until Monday, July 27 to file a claim as part of a $2.5 billion settlement.
Amazon agreed to pay customers who signed up for Prime and unsuccessfully tried to cancel their membership. The company denied any wrongdoing but agreed to make it easier for people to cancel.
Under the settlement, eligible customers who subscribed to Amazon Prime will be paid in two groups, the Automatic Payment Group and the Claim Process Payment Group.
Automatic Payment Group
People are eligible for an Automatic Payment if they are a U.S. consumer who signed up for Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, used no more than three Prime benefits in a 12-month period from June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and enrolled through a Challenged Enrollment Flow.
Consumers within this group don’t need to take any action to show eligibility. Amazon is sending payments to all eligible consumers in this group. They will be given compensation for Prime membership fees paid during the applicable timeframe.
Claims Process Payment Group
For those not in the Automatic Payment Group, you can submit a claim. If you’re eligible, you will get a notice by email or in the mail.
People are eligible for a claim if they are a U.S. consumer who signed up for Prime, and unintentionally enrolled in a Prime membership from June 23, 2019 – June 23, 2025, or tried to cancel their Prime membership through the online cancellation process and couldn’t between that same timeframe, used less than ten Prime benefits during any 12-month period of enrollment in Prime, and didn’t already get an automatic payment as part of this settlement.
Customers could get up to $51. To learn more and submit a claim form, click here.
