NEIL ARMSTRONG FLIGHT ANNIVERSARY: Neil Armstrong’s First Flight-90th anniversary will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the First Flight Lunar Module, 2553 Parkman Road NW.
The free event marks the 90th anniversary of 6-year-old Neil Armstrong’s first airplane ride from Warren Airways, which is now the site of First Flight Lunar Module.
On July 26, 1936, the Warren and Champion resident took his first flight from Warren Airways in a Ford Tri-Motor airplane known as the Tin Goose. This sparked young Armstrong’s life-long love of aviation.
Activities planned are a 2 p.m. design and fold a paper airplane while enjoying space-themed refreshments of Tang and moon pies, 3 p.m. brief remarks honoring Neil Armstrong’s first flight, and 3:45 p.m. for paper airplane flying competition by age group and prizes.
SUPPORT GROUP: The Parkinson’s Support Group meets at 6 p.m. today at Champion Christian Church, 151 W. Center St. This is a chance to meet others standing up to PD and learning from each other. SENIOR SHOWCASE: Senior Showcase 2027 is preparing for another season and is inviting talented adults age 55 and older to audition for its upcoming production at the historic Robins Theatre.
Auditions will be at 1 p.m. today at the Warren SCOPE Center. Singers, dancers, musicians, comedians, magicians and other performers are encouraged to showcase their talents and become part of this growing and energized senior performing arts group. Individuals interested in serving as backup singers, dancers or actors are also encouraged to register and become part of the production.
In addition to performers, Senior Showcase is always looking for volunteers to assist behind the scenes with costumes, props, stage support, marketing and event coordination.

CAMP KID AGAIN: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering “Camp Kid Again,” a day camp for adults, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 to 7. “Camp Kid Again” is for adults who are kids at heart. Participants will enjoy art activities, exercise and movement, cooking demonstrations and more. Lunch is included. The cost is $24 for one day and $54 for all four days. Participants will enjoy an evening of lively Klezmer music with The Klezmer Orchestra.
