The NFLPA’s Rising Stars list includes one member of the Chicago Bears, but perhaps it might not be the one you were thinking about.
Bears tight end Colston Loveland makes the cut and lands a spot on the 2026 Rising Stars list. This annual list compiled by the NFLPA “identifies top rookies and veterans poised to have breakout seasons, gain fan support and ultimately rank among the top-sellers of all officially licensed player merchandise.” In other words, folks in NFLPA offices think the world of the rising second-year tight end going into the 2026 campaign. And after seeing what Loveland did last year, I don’t blame them for feeling that way.
INSIDE COLSTON LOVELAND’S BREAKOUT ROOKIE SEASON AND WHAT’S NEXT?
Colston Loveland is coming off a strong rookie season in which he led the team in receiving yards (713) and catches (58) while scoring six touchdowns in 16 games during the regular season. That he added 12 more catches and 193 receiving yards during Chicago’s two playoff games only adds to the aura that is forming around Loveland. I’m often hesitant to jump on board what might seem like a rapid star turn, but this feels real.

As a rookie, Loveland grew into a go-to target for Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. And with DJ Moore out of the picture, I expect more defenses to try and key in on stopping Loveland this season. Ben Johnson says Loveland has taken his game to another level this offseason, which makes me feel good about things because the Bears’ head coach doesn’t throw out compliments publicly for kicks and giggles. And hopes are high for Loveland, who cracks ESPN’s top 10 tight ends list and could play his way into All-Pro status this season.
A side note: I find it interesting how many players on the list above are on the Bears’ 2026 schedule. That list includes one quarterback (Shough), two running backs (Cook, Achane), three receivers (Lemon, Tyson, McMillan, Egbuka), and a pair of defenders (Gonzalez, Bain). Also of note here is that there are no members of the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, or Detroit Lions. Hmmm…
