Denver Broncos running back RJ Harvey is a versatile beast out of the backfield.
He scored 12 touchdowns last year, which led all Broncos players.
But Harvey is looking to improve even more this offseason.

Harvey has proven himself to be a multifaceted running back.
In his rookie year, he rushed for 540 yards and 7 touchdowns, taking over for the injured J.K. Dobbins when the veteran was injured. Harvey also caught 47 passes for 356 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Before Dobbins was injured in Week 10, Harvey was primarily a receiving threat and added up most of his receptions, yards, and touchdowns through the air then.
Unsurprisingly, he was leaned on as primarily a runner post-Dobbins injury; rushing for 326 yards and 5 touchdowns from Week 10 on.
And quarterback Bo Nix was really high on his play as a rookie.
“He knows what it is like to find space,” Bo Nix said of Harvey’s touchdown against the Chiefs on Christmas Day. “He is a really savvy football player. He does things a lot that are unteachable that he has in his toolbox. He does stuff like that all the time. It is just football savvy. It just worked where he bought some time in the end zone and made a good catch.”
But now Harvey is only working to improve his skills.
He told media recently he has been watching film of Christian McCaffrey—son of Denver Broncos legend Ed McCaffrey—as well as Jahmyr Gibbs and Kenneth Walker.
“Just watching more film, watching other guys around the league, watching their film,” Andrew Mason reported. “[I’m] just trying to see things on film that they do, trying to help better my game. In Year Two in the system, I feel way more comfortable and it’s only going to get better from where I left off.”

McCaffrey had over 2,000 all purpose yards last year, while Gibbs gained more than 1,800, and Walker totaled 1,300 and also won Super Bowl LX MVP.
Where Harvey factors in Denver’s backfield
When the Denver Broncos re-signed J.K. Dobbins, it signified Dobbins as the starter for a second straight year.
Of course, Dobbins has been injured every year of his career to this point. So, it seems likely he’ll miss some time this year.
Conversely, head coach Sean Payton may end up cycling in other backs like Harvey and new rookie Jonah Coleman earlier in the season in an attempt to keep Dobbins healthy longer.
Speaking of Coleman, does his addition mean less time for Harvey? It’s certainly possible.
Coleman impressed Payton and GM George Paton before the NFL Draft, comparing him to none other than Dobbins. Then, there’s also Jaleel McLaughlin on the roster, but seemingly mostly as a depth piece.
So, there’s no doubt the competition is fiercer than it was last season for Harvey and the entire running back room.
Meaning it’s really good news that he’s been studying to much this offseason. And he’ll have a chance to hold onto his snaps in training camp, which kicks off in earnest next week.
On Wednesday, rookies—including Coleman—report to training camp. Then the veterans report on July 28.
