CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — On Saturday, around 9 p.m., a man was arrested on multiple charges after punching a deputy and strangling his girlfriend at 3004 Creekview Drive in the Town of Canandaigua.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after hearing of domestic violence. Deputies say that 31-year-old Leondis Phillip Caver from Canandaigua strangled his girlfriend and damaged a toilet and TV.
When deputies attempted to detain Caver, he resisted and then punched a deputy in the right side of the head, OCSO says.
He was charged with assault in the second degree, strangulation in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, aggravated family offense, and obstructing governmental administration.
Caver was taken to the Ontario County Jail and is expected to go to Canandaigua Town Court.
