Winter Juniors qualifier Annri Katoh has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Brown University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career to the application process at Brown University! I would like to thank my family and friends for always believing in me. A special thanks to Coach Iliana and Vic- I couldn’t have done this without you! And HUGE thanks to Coach Mitch and Coach Niko for giving me this amazing opportunity! This is truly a dream come true, and I can’t wait for what’s to come! GO BRUNO!
A rising senior at Seward Park Educational Campus in New York, Katoh has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. In addition to swimming for her high school, she also trains-year round with the 92nd St. Y Flying Dolphins.
A versatile swimmer, Katoh is strong across middle-distance freestyle, IM, and the 200 backstroke. Over the course of the 2025-26 season, she dropped about five seconds in the 200 back, four seconds in the 400 IM and 500 free, and two seconds in the 200 free and 200 IM.
On the high school scene, Katoh placed sixth in the 200 IM with her current PB of 2:05.29 and seventh in the 500 free at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships in November, before going on to swim at her first-ever Winter Juniors – East meet, where she finished 55th in the 400 IM, 61st in the 1000 free, and 104th in the 200 IM.
Katoh set the bulk of her current PBs at Speedo Sectionals – St. Mary’s City in March, finishing third in the 400 IM (4:21.19) and 500 free (4:52.97), fourth in the 200 back (1:59.91) and 200 IM (2:05.61), and ninth in the 200 free (1:50.53).
Top SCY Times: 200 Freestyle: 1:50.53 500 Freestyle: 4:52.97 200 IM: 2:05.29 400 IM: 4:21.19 200 Backstroke: 1:59.91A Division I program, Brown competes in the Ivy League Conference, with the women’s team placing fourth out of eight teams at this past season’s conference championships. Katoh’s current lifetime bests would have qualified for the ‘B’ final in the 500 free and the ‘C’ finals in the 200 free, 200 back, and 400 IM, setting her up to be an immediate contributor with two full seasons of training still ahead of her before she even lines up at her first conference meet.
Katoh joins Hannah Oh, Emma Sloan, Caroline Rogers, Sunny Kang, and Sylvia Deliduka in committing to the Bears’ class of 2031 so far.
