A man was wounded when a gun discharged during a struggle with police at a large gathering in Fuller Park early Saturday, authorities said.
Chicago police said officers assigned to the 9th District Tactical Team responded to a large gathering at around 12:32 a.m. along South Princeton Avenue near West 53rd Street. According to authorities, officers repeatedly ordered the crowd to disperse.
While conducting an investigatory stop for possible gun possession, officers became involved in a brief struggle with a suspect, according to law enforcement. During the incident, the individual’s gun discharged, striking him in the left thigh, police said. He was transported to an area hospital and listed in good condition.
A gun was recovered from the scene, authorities stated.
Police said officers didn’t fire their weapons, and no officers were injured.
