Getting a hot dog before a Chicago Cubs game sounds like the perfect start to a day, and Portillo’s is opening a first-of-its-kind restaurant near the Friendly Confines.
In a press release put out, appropriately enough, on National Hot Dog Day, the company announced that it will open its fifth Chicago location sometime next year, and it will be located just one block south of historic Wrigley Field.
The location will be built in the 3500 block of North Clark Street according to the company, and there is something about it that will be unique.
According to Portillo’s, the restaurant will feature the company’s first-ever walk-up window, allowing customers to order their food on the go between the ballpark and other destinations in the neighborhood.
In addition, the 4,600-square foot space will feature more than 60 spots for dine-in customers, and will also offer pick-up and delivery options, according to the Portillo’s website.
An exact opening date has not yet been announced, but the company says the store will open sometime in 2027.
While the new location isn’t open yet, those with a Portillo’s craving can take advantage of deals through National Hot Dog Day, including a $1 hot dog with a purchase of $5 or more through the company’s app and Perks program.
Another Portillo’s location is set to open soon in downtown Chicago, located in the 300 block of North Michigan Avenue. Construction on the space is currently underway, according to the company.
