ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Yesterday’s heat and humidity will subside as a weak cold front passes down from the north… But with that cold front, smoke will also be brought down to the surface from wildfires in western Ontario Province. Air quality will become unhealthy for some. Those with heart and lung disease, older adults, and young children should limit their time outdoors.
Other than the air quality issues and hazy skies, the weather today will be improving. Although we start out very muggy and very warm, drier and cooler air will be filling in late this morning which will cap our afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s. So not THAT much cooler than yesterday, but the lower humidity will make a HUGE difference in how the air feels.
Dry conditions continue tomorrow with highs in the mid 80s… But air quality will be a much greater concern than today. More smoke will be flowing down to the surface, making skies very hazy and bringing air quality to very unhealthy levels. Sensitive groups should stay indoors, and all others should avoid outdoor activity.
The wildfire smoke should subside as it passes south by Friday morning, but the degree to which is uncertain. Make sure to check back for updates as we continue to track this. Weather-wise, Friday will be fine, with cooler air, highs around 80, and sunshine. This weekend the unsettled weather returns with thunderstorms Saturday morning and afternoon, with some residual morning showers possible Sunday. The rest of Sunday should be dry but mostly cloudy.
