ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police released new details Monday about a deadly shooting outside a bar on Clifford Avenue that left one man dead.
Police say the shooting appeared to be justified.

What happened
On Sunday morning, police say a man was was kicked out of Condado Bar and Grill and grabbed a gun from the trunk of his car. They say he ran back toward the entrance, pointed the gun at security, and tried to get back inside.
When the man opened the bar door, the security guard opened fire.
Officers tell us another man started attacking the guard. After the security guard freed himself, he fired more shots at the man, who died at the scene.
Possible charges?
The Rochester Police Department hasn’t filed any charges against the guard. Police said the man killed had an illegal gun that originally came from Ohio.
“In fact, he probably saved lives inside the bar. Clearly, this guy was going back into the bar with the intent of hurting somebody. I mean, he had a loaded gun with an extended magazine trying to get back into the bar,” said RPD Capt. Frank Umbrino. “That being said, we will take everything that we have gathered and we will turn it over to the district attorney’s office. And ultimately, they have the final decision, but we will not be charging him.”
Rochester Police haven’t identified the man killed. Investigators are working to learn what led up to the shooting and officers are still looking for the other man they say attacked the security guard.
The Rochester Police Department is asking anyone with information or video of the shooting to reach out to its Major Crimes Division.
