ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A brief Yellow Alert is now in effect for a line of thunderstorms moving into western New York. These have been severe storms in southern Ontario Canada, but area showing signs of weakening. Still, as they work into Orleans and western Monroe Counties, they could produce some gusty winds and lightning. Our first Party in the Park is downtown tonight, so so if you’re planning on going (don’t cancel your plans!) or have other outdoor plans, be ready to seek shelter for a half hour to an hour if you hear thunder. The Yellow Alert and storm threat will end before sunset.
Our cold front drops through overnight and by early Friday morning. This will keep a few passing showers around into Friday morning, along with a good deal of clouds. We’ll see some clearing into the afternoon, which may spark some rumbles of thunder into the Finger Lakes as that cold front slowly continues to clear the area.
Our weekend looks great with a partly cloudy sky on Saturday, followed by sunshine and lower 80s on Sunday. Humidity will be much lower and we should have wonderful weather for any outdoor events. Meanwhile, the heat begins to return as we head into next week.
