ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Stray bullets from Sunday morning’s mass shooting hit at least three windows at Tower at Park Square 2 on East Broad Street.
Nobody inside the apartment building was hurt. News10NBC’s Adelisa Badzic spoke with residents who witnessed the chaos unfold.
Rich Fabian lives on the 19th floor and was watching fireworks throughout the night from his window. He saw a crowd of people and heard something that sounded different.
“RPD was chasing them and all of a sudden I started seeing more of the RPD cars showing up and I didn’t know what was going on,” Fabian said.
Fabian said he heard at least six rounds of gunfire. Police confirm at least 50 shots were fired between East and Union and the apartments.
“But had someone been standing by the window looking out they probably would have been hit. You know that shouldn’t have happened. People should feel safe in their homes,” Fabian said.
Jahzel Gray also lives in the apartment building hit by bullets.
“I need to keep y’all kids and keep them home man. Coming over here to downtown like this. It’s not the ghetto down here. This is why I moved. I moved down here and it’s like I’m even in even more ghetto stuff. I wanted to go back to the hub but nah man you parents,” Gray said.

The suspects
As of right now, only three people are facing gun charges. Police said more charges could be on the way but are waiting for the investigation to pan out.
During the immediate response, officers stopped two vehicles — one on East Avenue, with the help of a drone, and one on East Broad Street.
Officers recovered two loaded handguns from a Toyota at the East Avenue traffic stop, and two male suspects are being charged with criminal possession of a weapon. A flatbed truck towed away the black car around 5 a.m.
Larry Dillon, age 29 Jadell Williams, age 28Police tell us they found a gun in the car’s trunk and another on Williams’ waistband. Court paperwork obtained by News10NBC says Williams wrapped the gun in a shirt, and the guns were illegally owned.
During a press conference Monday, Police Chief David Smith said a 17-year-old is also facing weapon charges.
“They just renovated this building last year and put a lot of money into this. You know people in this building think they should be safe. This shouldn’t have happened. Not to our building,” Fabian said.
Neighbors say they’re relieved no one in the apartments was hurt but do hope for speedy recoveries for the innocent people who were hit outside. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
